What does it mean to be flinching after sipping alcohol?
Even flinching isn’t the best way to describe it.
A person should take a sip of soft-drinking alcohol and then proceed to make that iconic face – one where they bared their teeth from the sting of the alcohol. What is the main feeling of inhaling through your teeth? All the while, they might be shaking their head and sometimes even closing their eyes.
Is there a specific term for this or a common phrase? Is there any other idiom?
What is your take
on an apple and sour whiskey?
What is it. This happens repeatedly throughout my novel and I’m curious for if there’s a better way. More direct way, to
describe it.
I believe the word you seek should be ” wince “. Let me add the word ” recoil” which is also fitting.
“I had a shot of sour apple whiskey and gus winced about the overwhelming taste. It was overpowering.” After
eating sour apple whiskey, Gus recoiled at the overwhelming taste. ” ”
