One single word for sandbox/ training/workshop/root-cause-analysis/experimenting environment. One single word for training environment.
I am asking management for budget to create a new development environment, which will be as similar as possible to the production environment and which purpose will be: Training
- newcomers Workshops
- with developers and testers Testing
- of code Experimenting
- with the application Root
- cause analysis of issues Commonly,
such environments are called sandbox environment. We are searching for a better word (preferably a single adjective to environment) which will not sound so “playful” to the management but still covers all the above mentioned use cases.
And it’s not testing environment, that’s already used for regular system testing.
This is called a staging environment.
I can’t find any concrete references to back this up, it’s a term I often use to describe a’sandbox’ website that is under development. I think it really calls on several uses of the word;

Whilst I appreciate this definition refers to physical stages and platforms, you are essentially putting in the support structures for software, rather than a physical building.

I work in IT, and we have 4 different named environments. Is that what enables me to work in an IT company?

Production We refer to these environments as regions. i.e. Cache Test/Computer Test In Africa, as an ENT and a middle country country, developing regions and etc., are of little use to developing countries.
Each of these regions has a specific purpose. When new things are being developed, where they are being discussed and what are they being analyzed? Only developers can get access to this region. Testing is similar to development, but the code is very stable. Where is a change test in a system made by either quality assurance, developers, or users, if there is no change change or change to be made by someone else. When training is used mostly for training purpose and usually is a copy of production. Why do people need to use production data? In production, what is stable build and how stable it is, is controlled. In this area, users actually conduct their day-to-day work.
