First or second syllable accent for “tarot”
Is it acceptable to pronounce Tarot without speaking any more than one second syllable? When the first one was pronounced ‘Ta-ROW’, the phonetically significant component would be pronounced, ‘Ta-ROW’. I was surprised when I found there were two or three times the “”English accent” examples and I immediately started looking at dictionaries for every word. I bought one of them. I always put an accent on the Row part. I thought most people do, until my sister told me that I was not pronouncing the word right. I don’t know why. Is the pronunciation with the accent of “ROW” part associated with any particular group of speakers or geographical region? If an item is everyday, how common is it?
