Why do us have double letters?
Why do we have double letters in words? Likewise apple. For
example apple. The pp
makes a p
sound, and sound the same as if the word was spelt aple.

Why do some words have double letters that have a single letter which makes the same sound? In my language in India, I only use 3 characters in a sentence.
How do consonants work if they need a double letter with a vowel?
Two consonants in a word give us different pronunciation like in:
apple and aple are different in pronunciation and little, better

The double consonants in well and apple are short as in pest and fast and both can be. If the P was not doubled in apple, the word would rhyme with maple, compare apple with dapple.
