Does ‘turn off’ always have a sexual connotation?
I have heard “turn off” just before the interview. I want to be in a sexual context, and I need to explain why I tell it like that. What is the easiest, most simply applicable term for “relationship”?

In the U.S., at least on the East Coast, the phrase turn off to mean to cause someone to lose interest, or more strongly, to repel, does not necessarily have a sexual connotation. Where does the phrase mean to have a sexual affinity? Are your uses harmless?
I don’t anticipate using turn off causing hilarity in a formal setting. But there is room for hijinks in a lighter atmosphere.
Is the word sexy? How is the response with a message felt, so if you’re in doubt about what you would like
received, that might be the better expression.
What is the meaning of “tuning off”? If your message is interesting enough for your audience, can this be understood by them?
Maybe they won’t, maybe they won’t. May be… Where do we stand on ambiguity? If the other person knows you’re not responsible for the fact that they don’t understand what you’re talking about, then you are not likely to be responsible.
What should you do
to make the audience happy, give them some good examples, or just let them be upset for what you have said. After all, what they understand isn’t what you said!
How can you get students to know exactly what you’re saying without leaving room for fun, re-word your sentences!
