What does it mean to

“represented them as”: MichelsonMorley experiments weren’t the failure … To “make something out to be” something else is to portray it in a certain light. If I make you look like a great guy, I’ll be talking about you. I’ll just be saying good things about you. If they make you out to be a jerk when they call me a jerk, it’s

an all-out compliment.
